Car Tuning - Perfect Your Ride's Performance

For those of us that are into engine tuning, suspension tuning, body tuning, or all of the above, there are car competitions. Whether it's performance racing or auto-body modification shows, tuning competitions are a popular way to display your customized vehicles.

Body tuning is done by customizing the high-performance appearance of the vehicle, by adding spoilers or wings, body kits, and scoops. Suspension tuning upgrades the shock absorbers, springs, and swaybars to increase handling. Engine tuning is perhaps the most versatile and complicated category, as many different tuners are looking for different results. Some may tune their engine to increase horsepower or improve fuel economy. Engine tuning also covers air intake systems and exhaust systems, which again can be tuned to improve horsepower, performance, and emissions.

Have you entered your modified vehicles into any sort of competitions? We'd like to know how you did!

Air Intake Systems - Our Favorite Performance Modification

We think upgrading your air intake system is a great performance modification that can be done to your ride. The intake system is specifically engineered and calibrated to increase the air's velocity as it travels towards the engine. It minimizes turbulence and other air disturbances to maintain a high power output or torque. The air intake system is made up of air filters, throttle bodies, and a flow sensor.

Our favorite air intake systems are the cold-air intake systems. By bringing cooler, denser air into the engine, there is a greater power output. If high speed and high performance is what you seek, then you may consider a short ram-air intake, which increases the air volume intake. For best results, make sure the intake piping is nonrestrictive. There are often heat shields used to maintain cool air in the heated engine.

Agree? Disagree? Let us know what you feel is the best performance modification possible for an aftermarket high-performance vehicle!
